Actually I really do not mind homework at all. So these past couple of days, I have been reading my book "A Very Famous Social Worker', and it really has been interesting and keeps becoming interesting. I really enjoy Greg Johnson's sense of humor and how he describes the cases he has been working on. I love that Greg has a personal story to tell for some of the cases. Like there was a young boy Ricky who really just wanted his license but his family could not afford the tests or the lessons and Greg volunteered to teach Ricky. Greg reminisced back when his dad "taught" him to drive, which was to bring him to a housing development and letting Greg putz about while he read the newspaper. Greg thought back to that moment, in order to teach Ricky because Greg wanted to be more helpful and hands on. It is great to get these stories of Greg's thinking or past because it really helps to understand how Greg will work in a certain case. Other than reading, I have been updating my other blog, with my research on foster care, and I tried uploading my second interview but it would not, so I just wrote down two of the questions and answers from the interview for now. Hopefully I can get the audio up soon to have the complete interview. That is basically what I have been up to lately on the homework front.
Honestly I really think working in class is a lot more helpful than working outside of class. I mean I have been great with getting the interviews done which have been all outside the classroom, but besides that I feel like I have not been getting much done in the way of blogging, or reading my books. Looking at the calendar today in class, really made me have a mini anxiety attack because I honestly feel like I need to be at least a hundred times faster or have more things completed. I need to buckle down outside of the classroom.
I need to set aside certain times throughout the day to work on my book and to work on updating the blog. I usually update the blog like this at night, so I am thinking maybe I could update the blog every other night like ten or fifteen minutes left in study hall. That way I can be on top of it and have a good set period of writing. For the reading I need to find a time besides study hall because I have other homework to do and I cannot concentrate on my book at night. I think I can set aside thirty minutes every G block because I usually have that one all to myself.
Besides managing my time and getting what I want done, I am still glad I picked this topic and I am thrilled to see what else I can do in these coming weeks.

Tuesday Presentation day..AH
All throughout this year in Senior English Seminar, I have had difficulties with speaking. I had difficulties getting involved in seminars, and presenting things to the class. I would get extremely anxious and basically have an anxiety attack in class. I felt pretty bad about it, because it really was not the class or the people in the class. I really love and enjoy senior seminar, personally it is my favorite class. My classmates and teacher are all people I know very well and in no means are uncomfortable with. It was just something that was my own personal issue. That being said I was extremely nervous for this presentation. I prepared all Monday in class for it. I arranged a powerpoint, with different slides that included why I chose this project, what is happening overall and it also included my two interviews. After class Monday, I went up to Mr. Igoe and asked if I could go first on Tuesday because I knew the wait would just make me more nervous and I would probably end up crying during the middle of my presentation. Mr. Igoe said yes (THANK YOU!!) and I started off the week of presentations. Yes of course I was nervous, and I was a fidgeting mess up in front of the class. I really was passionate about this topic though and I enjoyed talking about what I was up to, and why I wanted to study this. I was very disappointed though when my videos would not play for the class. Even though it would have been so embarrassing, especially the video when I made weird faces, I think it would have been good for the class to hear what questions I came up with and the answers I got to what I have been wanting to know. After the videos did not play I was kind of flustered and or I just forgot but I really wanted to tell the class a little bit about my book. I am actually really enjoying this book, and the first few chapters were extremely interesting and I think the class would have really liked some of the cases the author was a part of. The question part of the presentation was great, and it brought up some questions that should be answered. Like whats the end product? The end product will be the other blog I am working on which will have book chapter updates, class research/work, and my papers about the interviews and books that I finished. Are the interviews going to separate papers? No the interviews will be one paper because I feel like I can really talk about the multiple responses better in one paper and make it more interesting.
Overall I thought the presentations went really well and I am beyond excited to see everyones project and to see the end product of mine.

The Calendar...
So far my project has been going well, I already did an interview
with Mrs. Bellamy, Isaiah's mom Friday over the phone. I was a little
nervous, I actually hate talking on the phone with people, it actually
went pretty well. I have a video of the interview that I will be posting
on my other blog, which I will include the link to in this page because
I do not know if I already gave it to you. While I am on track with the
interviews, I feel like I need to carve out more time for the other
aspects of my project. I need to focus more on the papers that I want to
accomplish. I was going to do a little essay on the foster care system,
and I did some of the research but I did not complete it and therefor
have not even started that paper. I think I am going to change my
homework tonight, to include more research on the foster care system and
to start on my midterm project. I feel like that will be the best use
of my time tonight. I also need to be more on top of my reading. I am
only on chapter 8 of "A very Famous Social Worker". I think I need to
start reading at least three chapters every night, and I need to be more
diligent in my blog posts of this book. Overall I feel like I need to
just do more. So I need to start working. Adios.

I really feel like my project is starting off on a great foot. I have been able to keep up with my calendar, not only in my classwork but my homework as well. In class I have been very productive with typing up a draft letter, interview questions, and research on the foster care system. After I drafted up my letter to send to potential interviewees, I had Mr. Igoe take a look before I sent it to make sure everything was clear and precise. Mr. Igoe did some edits, and in class we decided that I could send it out to his wife, Molly. I sent the letter to her this afternoon and we have already set up an interview session Monday at 6:30 PM. During class Mr. Igoe and I also went over my interview questions, which are looking informative. I just need to leave room for follow up questions, and a repertoire with the interviewee. I am slightly nervous about these interviews, not because I think the people involved are not going to be helpful, but because I get flustered speaking to people. I am going to practice speaking my questions this weekend though to get prepared for Monday. I feel a little nervous about the research and paper on the foster care system though. I did research today, but did not finish it quite yet. I may have to push the paper back till sometime this weekend so I can get my research done tomorrow and Friday. I do not want to fall behind on these little papers though, so I know I have to be on my game and ready to research my next topic right after I am done with my foster care paper. My homework has been going well, I do everything like I would if Mr. Igoe assigned us work for homework. The midterm project is coming up this next week, and we did talk about it in class today. I think I decided on making a quick power point, answering some of the questions on the sheet Mr. Igoe handed out, my draft letter, interview questions and hopefully some blog posts about the book I am reading or the paper on the foster care system. That's all for now!

The Start to A Very Famous
During class today, I thought I would be behind in my homework because I had to re-do my calendar. I had to re-do my calendar because I really needed to figure out the exact dates, what specifically I needed to do for class and homework. While I was working on my calendar, I decided to add more work to what I proposed on my project proposal. I decided to do a book review on the three books I will be reading, and I also decided to research the ethics/rules of being a social worker, how to become a social worker and what the foster care system is like. I plan on doing a mini paper on what I found on these topics. Since I will be doing a lot of writing with these new topics, I have also decided to make a new blog about these reviews. I am going to set that up right after I am done with updating this blog. I also talked to Mr. Igoe who gave me some suggestions about the individuals I could talk which was extremely helpful. It was extremely helpful because tonight for homework I tried researching individuals near Groton that specialize in social work, and I could not find many people at all who specialized in that field. I decided to use Mr. Igoe's suggestion of his aunt and his wife, as well as Isaiah's suggestion of talking to his mom. I also put another individual's name, Lorena Novak, because she is close to Groton and in case one of these individuals can not or would not like to be interviewed. I also drafted up a later to send to these people tomorrow during class with Mr. Igoe's approval of the letter. Another aspect of my homework was to start reading the first two chapters of "A Very Famous Social Worker". I indeed started and finished those two chapters and from what I've read I can say that I am pleasantly surprised I like this and I am very hopeful for this book to continue being good. I am very excited to be starting this project and I am glad that I picked this subject.

Senior Seminar Project Choices
For my senior project I am thinking about either doing social work. Social work as in a child's social worker where you help kids in certain home situations. I think I would enjoy doing this because I am thinking about taking some classes about becoming a social worker. I am thinking about studying the more business side of social work, since of that case in Fitchburg with the little boy who went missing and the social worker was supposed to be visiting the family every month but had not been to the family home since May. I get very upset about that because if you want to be a social worker, you want to help kids. I know it must be extremely hard to witness some of the stuff social worker see but wouldn't that make them all the more willing to help kids in need? I want to know how a person whose sole job it is to help and check in with their assigned kids could so blatantly ignore their responsibility. So that is basically what I am thinking about social work. I also think I will want to study psychology. I want to study maybe teen psychology as well as depression, I am not quite sure though. Psychology and social work is probably my top two projects.
